How to Take Kratom:
Strong Caution: If you are a consumer of kratom, and you have not spoken to a doctor about taking kratom, STOP. I understand that many of you may take kratom for totally valid reasons, but I suggest, as do my colleagues, that you talk to a Naturopath doctor before taking kratom: especially if you have been or currently are taking other medication of any kind. We do not know enough about kratom to take it in combination with other drugs because we do not know how mixtures of drugs and kratom effect the body. Use with caution.
1) Dose: ½ teaspoon of the powder
2)Begin by taking small amounts in order to work your way to your preferred level of consumption. ½ a teaspoon is the average, however, please note that consumption depends upon weight, age, body type, and reason for use. We aren’t rigid in the amount, but we recommend starting there until you know the effect it has on you.
3) Take Kratom on an empty or nearly empty stomach, as a full stomach may not allow the product to work effectively. (Usually, I take it before eating, then have a snack or a meal about 10 minutes afterward.)
4) Too much may cause more drowsiness than intended. Too little may not be effective in any way.
5)Do NOT take it if you are on other prescription medication (such as antidepressants or other strong pain medication as the combination is potentially deadly-not enough research has been done–Tylenol/Ibuprofen are okay).
Many natives take kratom as a tea.
Step 1)They mix the ½ teaspoon of powder into a 4-6 ounce cup of hot water.
Step 2)Stir for 2-3 minutes and add honey to sweeten. Try adding a natural almond creamer to your tea! It takes off the edge of bitterness.
Wash and Toss: (the fast way)
Kratom and water (not carbonated)
Step 1: Scoop a 1/2 tsp of kratom into a spoon.
Step 2: Take a gulp of water to wet the throat
Step 3: Take a deep breath
Step 4: Take the kratom
Step 5: Breathe in calmly through the nose (It is very bitter, so some have coughed and ruined the experience.
Do NOT: Freak out, laugh, try to breathe through your mouth (in or out)
Step 6: Take a sip of water and swallow slowly (Tip: keep breathing)
Step 7: Continue taking water, drinking slowly (as gulping down the water too quickly will cause a stomach ache)
Step 8: Swish water around in your mouth until it no longer sticks to the surfaces of the roof of your mouth or your tongue
Step 9: Wallah!
Blending your kratom into a smoothie is one option if you really hate the taste. I’ve used matcha green tea and almond milk before and that was pretty good.
Feel free to experiment and let me know how it all goes!
Note: Please try things and let me know how it goes! I love trying new things, and I’d love to post recipes.
